License Renewal Review License Renewal Process

> Safety Review

- Focus is on the effects of aging of components and structures important to plant safety

- Staff review is to determine that aging effects will be effectively managed

- Considers, analyzes, and discloses environmental impacts of continued plant operation and alternatives to license renewal

- Staff review is to determine if the environmental impacts of license renewal are so great that license renewal would be unreasonable Environmental Review Components of the (10 CFR Part 51) Environmental Review

> An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required for major Federal actions Atmospheric Science
