Enclosure Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2 License Renewal Information Needs The NRC staff has reviewed Appendix E, Environmental Report (ER), of the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2 (VEGP), license renewal application and have found that it meets the requirements of 10 CFR 51.45. However, in order to develop the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for license renewal, a number of informational needs have been identified and are outlined below. The NRC staff would appreciate if you could make the following documents available during the environmental site audit at VEGP to be conducted the week of October 15, 2007.

Documentation Arnett 2001 Bailey et al. 2004 Bennett and McFarlane 1983 Burke County Tax Commission 2006 DOE 1987 DuPont 1987 Gotvald et al. 2005 GDOT 1987a, 1987b, 1992, 1999, 2005 GPC 1987 GPC 2005 Lee et al, 1980 Marcy et al. 2005 Muska and Matthews 1983 NOAA and GDNR 2003 SNC 2003 Wike et al.2006 Please identify the source and date of off-site land use information shown in Figure 2.8-1 of the ER.

Radiological and Non-Radiological Documents Offsite Dose Calculation Manual.

Occupational Exposure Report for 2006.

Reports of any abnormal, unusual spills or leaks and reports contained in the 10 CFR 50.75(g) file for decommissioning.

Program information regarding radiological groundwater monitoring (on-site and off-site).

Other Information A map showing the locations of all groundwater monitoring or production wells in the local area, including their depths, rates of production, and use of water, if known.

More detailed meteorological data, including historic rainfall data, to provide additional information for the evaluation of water use conflicts.

Meetings with VEGP Personnel The project team will want to be able to talk to each of the key discipline leads (i.e.,

aquatic and terrestrial biologists, environmental compliance and permitting specialists, cultural/historical resources specialists, etc.). We recognize that these individuals are frequently the same person. If the facility would let us know how their organization is structured, we will prepare the audit schedule accordingly.

Early in the site audit, a general site tour will be needed for the entire project team.

More detailed site and surrounding environ tour(s) will be required later in the week.

These tours would include:

- a boat and vehicle tour to observe the aquatic environmental around the site, including any discharge and intake points

- a vehicle tour of the terrestrial environmental, including any critical habitats and the transmission line corridor Radiological Tour to cover the following:

- Gaseous, liquid, and solid radioactive waste processing

- Storage of low and high level radioactive waste

- Radioactive effluent release points

- Radioactive effluent monitoring systems

- Typical radiological environmental monitoring stations (including any co-located State monitoring stations)

We would like to speak to knowledgeable personnel regarding the plants radiological effluent monitoring program, radiological environmental monitoring program, and radioactive waste treatment systems (gaseous, liquid, and solid).

Non-Radiological Waste System Tour to cover the following:

- Areas where non-radiological wastes are accumulated and stored

- Areas where mixed wastes are accumulated and stored
