Dear Mr. Young:
This refers to the April 18, 2007, meeting conducted at our request at the Crystal River Nuclear Operations Training Facility, located at 8200 W. Venable Street, Crystal River, Florida. The NRCs Chief of Reactor Projects Branch 3, Region II Public Affairs Officer, and Resident staff assigned to the Crystal River Nuclear Plant met with Progress Energy - Florida Power Company (FPC) to discuss the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and the Crystal River annual assessment of safety performance for the period of January 1, 2006 - December 31, 2006.
Attendees included FPC management, FPC site staff and eleven members of the public.
Enclosed are the NRCs presentation slides and the licensees handout.
The discussions focused on the following topics: The NRC s assessment program, the results of the Crystal River assessment, and future NRC inspection activities. The NRC answered questions from your staff, the media and the public, following the meeting. The meeting was informative and did not result in any specific action items or decisions.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system
