SUBJECT:

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit No. 1; Docket No. 50-220 License Amendment Request: Proposed Changes to Technical Specification 4.1.4 Regarding Core Spray Instrumentation -

Supplemental Information (TAC No. MC9626)

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) hereby transmits supplemental information requested by the NRC in support of a previously submitted application for amendment to Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NMP1) Operating License DPR-63. The initial application, dated December 16, 2005, proposed a revision to Technical Specification (TS) Surveillance Requirement (SR) 4.1.4d by relocating the periodic checking, calibration, and testing requirements for the core spray header differential pressure (AP) instrumentation to licensee-controlled documents that are controlled in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.59. In response to a NRC staff verbal request, as discussed in a telephone conference call on October 19, 2006, NMPNS hereby supplements the December 16, 2005 submittal by clarifying that the requirements currently contained in SR 4.1.4d will be relocated to the NMP1 Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR). This revised regulatory commitment is shown in Attachment (1).

This supplemental information does not affect the No Significant Hazards Consideration Analysis provided in the NMPNS letter dated December 16, 2005. Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91(b)(1), NMPNS has provided a copy of this supplemental information to the appropriate state representative.

Should you have any questions regarding the information in this submittal, please contact M. H. Miller, Licensing Director, at (315) 349-1510.
