ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 FOR BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. MC4639 AND MC4640)
Dear Mr. Scarola:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-71 and DPR-62 for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Units 1 and 2.
The NRC issued the renewed facility operating licenses based on the staffs review of your application dated October 18, 2004, as supplemented by letters dated February 24, March 14, March 17, March 31, April 8, April 21, May 4, May 11, May 16, June 1, June 14, July 18, August 11, September 29, November 22, and December 6, 2005. The Technical Specifications for BSEP were not amended as a result of our review. contains Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-71 and the attached Appendix A, Technical Specifications. contains Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-62 and the attached Appendix A, Technical Specifications.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-71 expires at midnight September 8, 2036.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-62 expires at midnight December 27, 2034.
The NRC published the technical basis for issuing the renewed license as NUREG-1856, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Units 1 and 2, dated March 2006. The NRC also published the results of the environmental review related to the renewed license as NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 25, Regarding Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Units 1 and 2, dated April 2006.
J. Scarola Enclosure 3 is a copy of the related Federal Register notice of issuance of the renewed licenses.
