FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FINAL EXERCISE REPORT FOR THE MAY 24-26, 2005, VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION EXERCISE

Dear Mr. Thayer:

Enclosed is a copy of the letter from Kenneth L. Horak, Acting Regional Director, FEMA Region I, to Samuel Collins, Regional Administrator, NRC Region I, which forwarded the subject report.

The report mentioned seven Deficiencies which have been corrected through remedial drills.

We initially informed you of those Deficiencies in a letter to you dated June 12, 2005. The FEMA report also identified 25 Areas Requiring Corrective Action during the May 24-26, 2005 exercise. Please continue to provide assistance to your offsite stakeholders to address these issues. FEMA still maintains that offsite emergency plans and preparedness can be implemented and are adequate to provide continued assurance that appropriate measures can be taken to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at your site.
