SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING RELEASE OF PART OF SITE FOR UNRESTRICTED USE, R.E. GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (TAC NO. MC7602)

Dear Mrs. Korsnick:

By letter dated May 20, 2005, R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, LCC (Ginna LLC) submitted an application, pursuant to Section 50.83 of Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, for approval by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of a proposed release of non-impacted land for unrestricted use at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.

On September 8, 2005, the NRC staff has informed you that additional information was required in order for the staff to complete its review. Subsequently, the staff has determined that it has some additional questions regarding the application. Enclosed is the NRC staffs supplemental request for additional information (RAI). This RAI was discussed with your staff on September 14, 2005, and it was agreed that your response would be provided 30 days from the date of this letter.

SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING MAIN FEEDWATER ISOLATION VALVES R.E. GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DOCKET NO. 50-244 By letter dated May 20, 2005 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML051530448), R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, LLC (Ginna LLC) submitted an application for approval of the release of non-impacted land for unrestricted use at the R.E.

Ginna Nuclear Power Plant (Ginna). To complete its review, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requests the following information:

1. Provide a summary of the evaluation, performed in accordance to 10 CFR 50.54(p), that demonstrates and gives the basis for the Ginna LLC conclusion of "no adverse effect on approved security," as stated on page 4 of Attachment I of the May 20 application.
2. Provide a description or clarification of whether there are important plant systems (e.g.,

such as offsite power transformer, power lines, pumps, plant water supply systems, water intakes, etc.) in the vicinity of the proposed site property for release. Discuss security considerations required, if any.
