Dear Sirs:

Subject:

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)

Units 1 and 3, Docket Nos. STN 50-528 and STN 50-530 Control Room Habitability Testing After a meeting on March 30, 2005 between the NRC and Arizona Public Service Company (APS), the NRC staff requested that APS perform tracer gas testing in the Palo Verde Units 1 and 3 control rooms.

Arizona Public Service Company (APS) commits to perform tracer gas testing in Units 1 and 3 to confirm that unfiltered inleakage into the control room envelope is less than what is assumed in the design basis radiological analyses for control room habitability. The testing will be performed in accordance with ASTM Standard E741 with the control room ventilation system operating in its design basis configuration.

Testing is currently scheduled to be performed in August 2005.

Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. Thomas N.Weber at (623) 393-5764.

Sincerely, CDM/TNW/RAB/ca cc: B. S. Malleft NRC Region IVRegional Administrator M. B. Fields NRC NRR Project Manager G. G. Warnick NRC Senior Resident Inspector for PVNGS A member of the STARS (Strategic Teaming and Resource Sharing) Alliance Callaway
