Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 April 11, 2002 five-year extension for ice condenser plant design until more time is available to fully address the unique design characteristics of an ice condenser plant. These issues are also being addressed as part of ongoing Nuclear Energy Institute efforts regarding plant CILRT interval extensions.

Based on the above discussion, TVA is requesting NRC approval to defer performance of the Unit 2 CILRT for one operating cycle (until Fall 2003).

This letter is being sent in accordance with NRC RIS 2001-05.
