In Reference 2, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requested public comment on a proposed rule revising the licensing, inspection, and annual fees charged to NRC applicants and licensees. In Reference 3, the.Nuclear, Energy Institute (NEI) provided comments on behalf of the nuclear industry.
The Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) has reviewed References 2 and 3 and fully supports the comments provided by NEI particularly, in regard to the proposed rule being a more reasonable increase after several years of substantial increases. OPPD also supports increasing fee 'recovery through hourly charges when appropriate rather than by increasing annual fees.. Annual fee increases tend to have, adisproportionate impact on smaller utilities.
No commitments to the NRC. are made in this letter.
