ATTACHMENT Re:= St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Diesel Generator Information

1. Staff Position All shared annunciators for disability conditions should not be able to be cleared until all abnormal conditions are corrected.

~Res onse St. Lucie Unit 1 conforms to the staff position.

No annunciator for a disabling condition clears before the condition is corrected.

2. Staff Position If a diesel generator's provided with a manual shutdown lockout relay, an alarm should be provided which is worded to clearly indicate the diesel generator is incapable of an automatic start when the relay is not set.

~Res onse St. Lucie Unit 1 conforms to the staff position.

The lockout relay will inhibit a start attempt unless the condition leading to the lockout is corrected and the lockout relay is reset. The lockout is

. annunciated and the annunciator will not clear unless the lockout relay is reset. It is standard practice at St. Lucie Unit 1 that lockout indication requires resetting the lockout reIay before the system is considered to be in a normal operating condition. Therefore, the annunciation associated with diesel generator lockout does indicate to the operators that attempts to start the diesel generator will be inhibited until the lockout relay is reset.
