Dear Nr. Stello:

(R~~~v 'g@g45 Re: St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Proposed Amendment to Facility Operat:ing License DPR-67 Suoplemental Information In our letter of August 22, 1977 (L-77-256), FP&L.requested that the facility operating license for St;. Lucie Unit. 1 be amended to allow an extension of the present due dates for several of the 18-month surveillance requirements. to the end of the first regularly scheduled refueling outage. Item 4 of the request concerned Specification 4.4.5, which requires that the first in-service inspection of steara generator tubes

'be perform d within 24,calendar months of initial criticality.

This would require performance of the inspection before April 22, 1978, the date specified in the Safety Evaluation accompanying our request. However, based upon our understanding of Speci-fication 4.0.2, which allows an extension of each surveillance requirement not to exceed 25% of the test interval, the inspec-tion would actually have to be performed'efore October 22, 1978. Since the first regularly scheduled refueling outage for that'ate, an extension of the St. Lucie 1 will, o ccur before due date for'pecification 4.4.5 is n'ot required: Accordingly, FP&L hereby requests that that item be deleted from the proposed amendment.

In addit'on, at this time FP&L plans to undergo a maintenance outage of approximately two weeks duration't: St. Lucie Unit 1, beginning September 26, 1977. During this outage, the Integrated Safeguards Test (Item 6 of our Augu'st 22 letter) will be performed.

Yours very truly, 1

Robert 'E. Uhrig Vice President REU/LLL:ltm cc: Robert Lowenstein, Esq.
