0 December 3, 2014 L-2014-363 FPL. 10 CFR 50.4 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Attn: Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Washington, D. C. 20555 Re: St. Lucie Unit 2 Docket No. 50-389 Request to Extend Reactor Vessel Surveillance Capsule Report Submittal In accordance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix H, Section IV.A, Florida Power & Light (FPL) is submitting this letter for approval of the extension request for the submittal of the St. Lucie Unit 2 reactor vessel material surveillance program Capsule 97 degrees technical report.

FPL withdrew the St. Lucie Unit 2 reactor vessel surveillance Capsule 97 degrees on March 22, 2014. Logistical difficulties combined with changing shipping conditions and requirements delayed the shipment of the capsule to the vendor (Westinghouse) laboratory for testing and analysis. Therefore FPL is requesting approval for the extension of the technical report submittal from March 22, 2015, to May 22, 2015.

The delay in the submittal of this technical report does not pose a significant safety impact on plant operation. The current heatup/cooldown curves (i.e., pressure/temperature limits) have a service period of 47 effective full power years (EFPY). As the St. Lucie Unit 2 reactor vessel has experienced a fluence of approximately 26 EFPY, there is sufficient margin to support this extension request.

Please contact Ken Frehafer at (772) 467,7748 if there any questions on this submittal.
