The examiners noted that a few of the candidates had difficulty explaining radiation control theory.
The examiners noted that the candidates displayed very effective communica-tion skills during the simulator exams.

No generic strengths were noted.
A generic deficiency was noted in understanding core effects and appropriate operator actions following dual recirculation pump failure at 100K, power.

Host candidates used the plant reference material effectively.

Comments on availability and candidate familiarization with plant design, procedure, T. S.
changes and LERs:
The candidates'amiliarization with the above subjects was adequate.

Comments on interface effectiveness with plant training staff and plant operations staff during exam period.
Both the plant training staff and the plant operations staff were extremely cooperative during the examination period.

Improvements noted in training programs as a result of prior operator licensing examinations/suggestions, etc:
No improvements in training programs were suggested by the examiners.

Summary of NRC Comments made at exit interview:
The examiners noted a weakness in Radiation Control Theory in some candidates.
The training department staff and on-shift crews were extremely cooperative during the examination period.
The examiners thanked Terry Logsdon for being very helpful in the administration of the simulator examinations.
The examiner s remarked on the outstanding communication skills displayed by the candidates during the simulator examination.
The facility was very clean and most areas were easily accessible.
The NRC Security training for site access was both concise and effective.

The licensee expressed concern over the rapidity of the simulator scenarios.
The licensee felt that the candidates could have been adversely affected by the lack of time allowed to follow through the exercise.
