!
_(Closed) CDR 84-04-02 Misapplication of Westinghouse KF Underfrequency Relay in the interlock circuit associated with the Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG). The relays are supplied as part of the EDG control beard which had been modified to function in the diesel ready-to-load
'
circuit.
By design the relay should have closed its associated contact upon generator output frequency increasing above a set point. As l
'
shipped, the relay closed its contact on decreasing frequency.
The diesel generator manufacturer (Colt Industries) indicates the KF relay in the diesel breaker circuit is their "standard" design.
This item had been reported to the NRC as a 50.55e in a telecen of Februa ry 28, 1984 and a final report submitted on March 26, 1934.
This item, closed in NRC Report No. 50-352/84-14 for Limerick Unit 1 and 50-353/84-04 for Limerick Unit 2 was reopened for Limerick Unit 2 re-verification of the relay contact wiring modification to provide a contact which closes on increasing frequency. The circuit was successfully tested on August 31, 1983.
This item is closed.
5.0 Instrumentation (Corponents & Systems)---CA Procedures Review (52051)
