MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - PUBLIC MEETING - REGULATORY CONFERENCE - OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION - DOCKET NOS. 50-269, 50-270, 50-287

Dear Mr. Hamilton:

This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Graham Davenport of your staff and Mr. Robert Carroll of this office on April 19, 2006, concerning a Regulatory Conference, being conducted at your request, which has been scheduled for May 17, 2006, from 10:00 am to Noon. The meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed. The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000269,270,287/2006012. This finding involved the apparent untimely corrective actions in resolving east penetration room blowout panel-related deficiencies for all three Oconee Units.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000269,270,287/200612 regarding the apparent untimely corrective actions in resolving east penetration room blowout panel-related deficiencies for all three Oconee Units. This finding was preliminarily characterized as Greater than Green (i.e., an issue having more than very low safety significance). The NRCs Policy Statement, Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings, effective May 28, 2002, applies to this meeting.
