Management Interview A management' meeting was held on May 22, 1974 with corporate representa-tives of the Consolidated Edison Company, Incorporated (Con Ed).

Cencral The overall purpose of the meeting was described by Mr. J. P.
O'Reilly, Director, RO:1.

The licensee was informed of the intention of Region I to conduct a three to six week special inspection of the Indian Point site and l

Con Ed corporate of ficas beginning in July 1974. This special
!
inspection was prompted by the need to determine Con Ed's effec-
!
tiveness and progress in resolving the deficiencies discussed in the meeting with Con Ed on December 6,1973.
(Inspection Reports
50-03/73-20 and 50-247/73-25) and in Con Ed's letter of April 8, 1974.
A recent inspection of facility caergency planning raised concern uith the degree of progresc being' made by con Ed in re-solving overall deficiencies (Inspection Reports 50-03/ 74-05 and 50-247/74-08.)

Special Directed Ins,ocction Ef fort The special inspection vill cover the areas of (1) monitoring and controlling radioactive material and personnel radiation exposures (2) monitoring and controlling reactor systems and related safety systems reliability and performance and (3) monitoring and con-trolling conformanr.c to Technical Specifications and License requirements.
The inspection will include both technical and administrative aspects, and involve Indian Point Units 1 and 2, and applicabic corporate offices.

Mr. O'Reilly further stated that the prescnt status of the facility will be examined by the inspectors to determine the degrec and rate of improvement resulting from Con Eds actions since the December 6 meeting. The inspection ef f ort would start in July and last approximately 3-6 weeks.
It was emphasized that the inspection is lesigned to examine current status and will evaluate improvements made in the overall operation of the facilitics.
RO:I specialist inspectors may be called in to assist the two man inspection team.

It was further stated that in the event there were questions, either prior to or during the actual inspection, Mr. Davis, Mr.
Brunner or Mr. O'Reilly would be availabic at any time.
