Light Company, doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., is providing notification of a minor change to the facility's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit
- NC0039586 by providing the enclosed copy of the change. The change was approved and issued by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources on January 7, 2005.

Dear Mr. Waldrep:
In accordance with your request and the Division's review, enclosed with this letter is a minor modification. to the above referenced permit. TIis permit modification Is issued pursuant to the requirements of North Carolina General Statute" 143-215.I and the Memorandum of Agreement between North Carolina and the' U.S.' Environmental Protection Agency dated May 9. 1994 (or as subsequently amended).
Ths permit modification 'includes 'membrane backwash water as a low-volume waste and authorizes discharge of said water through internal outfall 004.
Please 'take notice'that this permit is not transferable. This permit does not affect the legal requirements' to obtain other permits which may be required by the'Division of Water Quality or permits required by the Division of Land -Resources. Coastal Area Management Act, or any other Federal or Local governmental permits which may be required..
