Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated January 21, 2010 (Reference 1) Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.

submitted a request in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR73.5, "Specific Exemptions," to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requesting approval of an exemption from specific requirements of the new portions of 10CFR73.55, "Requirements for Physical Protection of Licensed Activities in Nuclear Power Reactors Against Radiological Sabotage," for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VY).

On February 4, 2010 a teleconference was held with NRC staff to discuss our exemption request and it was agreed that additional information would be submitted. The information provided in the attachment revises the regulation paragraph for which the exemption in Item1 is requested and updates the project schedule to incorporate contingencies. The information in this letter supplements our initial submittal. to this letter is considered security-related information associated with the physical protection of the VY facility, as described in 10CFR2.390(d)(1). Accordingly, VY requests that Attachment 1 be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10CFR2.390. to this letter is an redacted version of Attachment 1 and is suitable for public disclosure.

This letter contains no new Regulatory Commitments.
