In accordance with Technical Specification Apnendix A, Sect ion 4.5.3.1,

" Decay Heat Removal System Leakage j

Acceptance Limit," and Section 6.9.4.2.b,

" Operation in Degraded Mode Allowed by a Limiting Condition for a

I Operation", the Sacramento Municipal Utility District hereby submits a t h I r t y-d r.y report of Reportable Occurrence 81-45.

On August 27, 1981, with the plant shutdown for turbine repair s, the "B"

decay heat pump was discovered to be leaking (0.87 gallons per hour) in excess of the Technical Specification allowable limit (0.62 gallons per hour).

This was discovered by an Auxiliary Operator during performance of his normal shift functions.

The "A" decay heat punp was started, and the "B" pump secured for repairs.

Repairs to the pump will consist of replacement of the pump shaft seals.

This work, for which procedure M.21, " Decay lleat Removal Pumps", was specifIcally written, will be completed prior to the next startup of the reactor.
