April 29, 2010 E-Mail: OPA4.Resource@nrc.gov NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT WATERFORD 3 NUCLEAR PLANT The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Marlone Davis as the new senior resident inspector at the Waterford 3 nuclear plant which is located 25 miles west of New Orleans, La.

"Marlone Davis' technical and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants," said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins.

Davis joined the NRC in August 2003 as a reactor engineer and worked as an inspector in Region I. Most recently he was a resident inspector at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby, Md. Prior to joining the agency he worked as an engineer for Sargent & Lundy at several nuclear power plants. Davis has a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering with a specialization in waste manageme nt and environmental restoration from Kansas State University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Davis joins resident inspector Dean Overland, who has been assigned to Waterford since 2006. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
