MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR INITIAL LICENSE EXAMINATION

In a letter (L

-MT-13-045) dated June 20, 2013, your staff requested an eligibility waiver for Mr. A. Herrmann for the June 2015 initial operator license examination. Your staff requested a waiver of one month of the six months responsible nuclear power plant experience at the plant for which the applicant seeks a license. The Region III Operations Branch has reviewed Mr. Herrmann's work experience at Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant and his prior experience at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in accordance with the Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors, NUREG-1021, ES-202 D.2.a(1), and agree that Mr. Herrmann meets all requirements to take the 2015 NRC initial license examination with the exception of the required six months responsible power plant experience at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant. When Mr. Herrmann submits his application for the license, please have Mr. Herrmann request the experience waiver on his application and, in accordance with NUREG-1021, Section D.1.i(1) "Routine Waivers," the waiver will be granted at that time. Mr. Herrmann will be required to complete the one month of responsible power plant experience before an operator license can be issued after satisfactory performance on the operator license examination. When Mr. Herrmann's power plant experience requirement is satisfied, it will need to be documented in a manner comparable to Mr. Herrmann's original license application and signed by the Plant Vice President or the designated alternate.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Documents
