UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 Paul Lorskulsint, Chief Nuclear Officer and Head of Compliance Louisiana Energy Services, LLC P.O. Box 1789 Eunice, NM 88231

SUBJECT:

REVISED COMPLETION DATE OF LOUISIANA ENERGY SERVICES, LLC -

LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO RAISE ENRICHMENT LIMIT TO THE LICENSED LIMIT FOR LOW ENRICHED URANIUM PLUS RECYCLING AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS (LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST 24-01)

(ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2024-LLA-0120)

Dear Paul Lorskulsint:

Due to staff resource issues, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has had to revise the anticipated review schedule for your submittal dated August 29, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML24242A197) requesting an amendment to its special nuclear materials (SNM) license (SNM-2010). The license amendment request proposes to allow Urenco USA to apply the less than 10.0 weight percent uranium-235 enrichment limit to the on-site recycling and support systems and the removal of interim controls established for segregation and storage of the increased enrichment limit exposed components removed from production systems.

In the initial acceptance letter dated November 26, 2024 (ML24327A210), we anticipated completing our formal review by May 30, 2025. Based on our resources, evaluation, and projection of current review schedules, we now anticipate completing our formal review by July 31, 2025. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule. The NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will still require approximately 800 staff hours which corresponds to about $253,600.00 ($317.00/hour).

The Enterprise Project Identification Number (EPID) L-2024-LLA-0120 remains valid. Please reference this EPID No. and Docket No. 07003103 in any future correspondence associated with this request.
