SUMMARY

OF OCTOBER 3, MEETING WITH DUKE ENERGY CAROLINAS, LLC, TO DISCUSS THE PROPOSED LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST REGARDING THE PROTECTED SERVICE WATER SYSTEM OPERATION FOR THE OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1,2, AND 3 (TAC NOS.

ME7737, ME7738, ME7739, ME7746, ME7747, AND ME7748)

On October 3, 2013, a Category 1 public meeting was held among staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke or the licensee) at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. A list of attendees is enclosed. The purpose of the meeting was to allow the licensee to discuss their analyses performed and proposed alternate means of providing cooling to the reactor building and auxiliary building associated with the operation of the Protected Water System (PSW) in support of its response to the NRC staff's request for additional information (RAI-170) dated June 28,2013, Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML13190A016. RAI-170 concerns the effects of the increased heat loads associated with the operation of the PSW system and the licensees proposed response to address the resulting temperature increases.

There were no members of the public in attendance, and no public meeting feedback forms were received. A list of attendees is enclosed. The licensee's meeting slides is available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML13275A269.
