LER ATTAC10fENT - LER NO. 2-81-33 Facility: BSEP Unit No. 2 Date:

2-24-81 An investigation of the problem revealed that the General Electric Model No. CR206E000AAFN, 480V, ND!A size 3 contactor was energized at a tem-perature greater than the high temperature lockout. Manual operation of this contactor determined that it was extremely difficult to operate. This contactor was replaced and the system returned to normal. The defective contactor was disassembled and inspected in an attempt to determine the cause for its stiffness. A thorough inspection could not determine a cause for this event. The contactors on the remaining three diesel generators were tested and found to operate satisfactorily. This is considered an isolated event.
