- 1. The application should explicitly identify each different package configuration and show that each configuration meets the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.
- 2. The packaging drawings have been reduced to the extent that the aimensions and notes are not legible. Provide a legible set of packaging drawings, showing each different package configuration separately.
- 3. The material properties used in Section 1.0 Structural Evaluation do not correctly reflect the change in materials (casting vs. plate and pipe) andthechangeinconstruction(castingvs.weldment).
- 4. Figure UG-34(b-2), cited in Item 2, page 1-3, is not applicable to the welded construction shown on the packaging drawings. A value for "C" which reflects the construction details should be selected. This condition also exists with the various factors used in the flange calculations. It is also noted that the flange calculations did not consider the conditions of Appendix II, Part 8, of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Division I, 1974 Edition. Part B addresses flange designs having metal to metal contact outside the bolt circle.
- 5. The calculations are not consistent in that the maximum allowable stress value cited by the ASME Code is not the design criteria used in all cases (Bottom Head, page 1-6).
- 6. It is not clear that the material thicknesses used in some calculations are the minimum thickness as required. Material thicknesses which are pertinent to the analysis should be shown on the packaging drawings.
