In response to tha NRC request (Ref) for information on drawing revisions since the last cart!fleate approval, attached is a completo listin5 of tevisions made to the drawings in Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP) DPSPU 74 124 5, Rev 2, 4/88. The SARP (Rev. 2) is part of the application to NRC for renewal of certificate of compliance #6678.

Most of the 1988 revisions cancelled previous revishne that were made in anticipation of a future prneurement, however no procurement was made after 1968 with these original drawin5s.

F.ET 2) NRC Docket 871 6678 In response to the NRC request (RET 1) for information on the content of drawing revisions (since the last certificate approval), this document explains each drawing revision made after the revision listed in the certificate of compliance.

The revised LP 50 Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP) included with the request for NRC certificate *6678 renewal (RET 2) dated May 24, 1988 included drawings that were revised since the last certificate renewal. Most of the 1988 revisions were made to cancel trevious revisions that were made in anticipation of future procurement.

Eovever, the procurement did not take pit.ce with these drawings.

(A procurecent in 1979 was ande using new drawings and these 1979 containers are not being used for shipments.) The last LP 50 purchase using the cristnal drawings was made in 1968.

The above mentioned revisions (that vere never used for labrication) included improved materials and increased quality ass,urance for velding and specific inspection requirements. Some of the 1988 revisions corrected previous errors and clarified items that may have been subject to etsinterpretation.

The LP 50 container first built in 1957 was equipped with Futten Sylphon valves (Dravir.g *S4 2 147 and $5 2 1693). As improved valves were developed in 1764, the LP.50 was refurbished with Hoke valves (as shown in Drawing

• S5 2 2168A) is tt.e containers were returned to SRP.

The LP 50 has been a reliable and important container for the shipment of larga quantities of low pressure tritium gas. Several drawings (sS4 2147 and 35 2 1693) show valves that were used in the past (Pulton Sylphon) and i

not used in current normal practice are included in the SARP to account for all packages that vere loaded and shipped at SRP. These valves are the older r.eedle valve designs but are fully servicable and are leak checked to the same rigid requirement as the never globe design Hoke valves. No changes to i

the LP 50 containment vessel have taken place except for valve replacement to n.tintain the container in the "as built" condition.

Each revision made after the revision listed in the certificate of compliance vill be discussed in the following format:
