We understand from the notification letter that the conditions of the building are such that a decommissioning plan is not required. and that you expect to complete decommissioning and release the .

Dear Mr. Kinneman:
As required by 10CFR30.36(d), I am writing to infonn you that Princeton University has decided in cease principal activities involving licensed radioactive material in the Chemical Sciences Building and in Sayre liall, both located at the Forrestal Campus of Princeton University. This decision is the result of moving the Omcc of Environmental llealth & Safety from its Forrestal Campus location to a new location at the University's Main Campus. 'Although the primary operations of the Omce of E vironmental Health & Safety have moved, the radioactive source used for instrument calibrations will remain at Sayre llall for several months, and calibrations will be performed during this period of time.
The move has just occurred and will be followed up by the disposal of some radioactive materials and by the perfonnance of decommissioning surveys in Chemical Sciences Building and in Sayre liali. At present we do not expect that coutamination a ill be found such that it will be necessary to submit a decommissi ming plan. We expect to complcte all waste disposal and decommissioning work by August 30,1998.
