Please note that as part of this amendment, in accordance with 10 CFR 70.38, effective February 15,1996, the expiration date of your license has been extended by a period of five years. Your new expiration date is stated in item 4 of the license.

Also note that your license has been reformatted to conform to licenses of this type.

If there are any errors or questions, please notify the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region i Office, Licensing Assistance Team, (610) 337-5093 or 5239, so that we can provide appropriate corrections and answers.

You stated in your letter dated October 7,1997 that some aspects of the decontamination of Room 106 (the nuclear chemistry laboratory) in Palmer Hall meet the conditions of 10 CFR 30.36(g)(1). Note that the comparable section for Part 70 licenses is referenced in 10 CFR 70.38(g)(1). We note that you will submit a decommissioning plan v.ithin the next three months. In this decommissioning plan, ensure that the characterization survey is included, and specify the aspects of decontamination which meet the conditions of 10 CFR 70.38(g)(1), if applicable.
