This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. A. G. Krasopoulos
j of this office on August 19-23, 1985 at Millstone, Unit 3, Waterford,
,
Connecticut, of activities authorized by NRC License No. CPPR-113 and to the
j discussions of our findings held by Mr. Krasopoulos with Mr. R. Basch of your
j staff at the conclusion of the inspection. -
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
- Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
<
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
- records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, items of noncompliance were not observed.
- However, certain activities appear to be deviating from your Fire Protection '
] Evaluation Report commitment to provide fire detection in accordance with the
'
National Fire Protection Association standards and to provide fire proofing on
j structural steel members forming parts of fire walls. We have identified these
, as unresolved items which should be addressed in a timely manner to preclude
- potential violations of operating license requirement.
