Dear Mr. Stolz:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1)

Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Update of Tech. Spec. Change Request No.141 On October 24, 1985, GPU Nuclear (GPUN) submitted Tech. Spec. Change Request No.141, letter number 5211-85-2151. Enclosed is revised page 3-30 which should replace page 3-30 from the original request.

It was the intent of GPUN that the defeat of the reactor trip for loss of feedwater and turbine trip was to be permitted during low power physics tests. As pointed out in recent telephone conversations with your John Thoma, the original page 3-30 did not restrict the trip defeat to low power physics tests.

The enclosed page is revised to state:

(c) Trip may be defeated during low power physics tests.

The attached page with this revision should be supplemented for the original page 3-30 in all copies of Tech. Spec. Change Request No.141.

Sincerely, 85121203 ADOCK
