TECMICAL PROGRESS Achievements This Month:

A. Proaram Plannina and Peasurerrer.ts

1. Prairie Island Station: '

Prairie Island has been selected as the fifth PWR to be studied. INEL personnel tret with Prairie Island personnel on 8/21-22/80 to discuss the possibility ,

of carrying out measurements at their facility. Pemission to carry out the treasure-ments was granted and detailed planning of'the measurement schedule was initiated.

It is anticipated that the mobile laboratory will be transported to Prairie Island during the early part of October.

2. Sumrrary Report:

A meeting was held with INFL and NRC personnel on 8/T0/80 to discuss results of the fiRC review of the Surrary Report. The NRC coments concerr.ing the bulk of the report were cbtaired ar.d discussed. Further NRC coments will be transmitted to INEL in the future and, where apprcpriate, the report will be changed to reflect these ccwents.

3. Remote Monitorint; and Radionuclide Transport Subtasks: I f

Preparation of the final reports for these two subtasks was initiated during August. It is anticipated that the reports will be cor.pleted during  :

September.

l

4. Program Management:

ENICO management decided that participation of ENICO in the In-Plant Scurce Term Measurement Program will terminate at the end of FY 1980. Arrangerents have been made to transfer to EG&G the equipment used for the gaseous treasurements and 3

any ENICO personnel who wish to remain with the program. Two of the three ENICO '

personnel who work full time on the program have expressed a desire to remain with  !

the program and will transfer to EG&G during September. Because of this transfer of equipment and personnel, the Source Term crew will remain essentially intact and be able to continue the program without interruption. i i
