Modification to Request for an Extension to the R 63 Reactor License.

REFERENCE:

Letter from R. F. Saxe and Joab Thomas, Subject as above, dated 10 December 1979

Dear Sir:

This letter accepts the suggestions of Mr. Erickson of your office, made in a telephone call to our Reactor Health Physicist, on 5 February 1980, which were:

a. Item 1, reference letter: R-3 reactor area monitors and stack monitors to be discontinued,
b. Item 2, reference letter: (1) the daily air sample taken in the R-3 bay to be discontinued; and (2) the survey frequency to be changed from weekly to quarterly.

In regard to b-(2) above, our request in the reference letter and supported by the letter from R. F. Saxe, dated h January 1980, is amended as follows:

"Ttlat paragraph f, page 15, ' Hazards Su::: mary Report for the North Carolina State University Training Reactor' be deleted and inserted in its place: ' Radiation and contamination sur-vey of the R-3 bay area shall be made at quarterly intervals. '"

A return telephone call to Mr. Erickson was made by Mr. R. D.

Cross, Reactor Health Physicist on 6 February 1980 to advise him of our
