In a communication on May 10, 2007, between Mr. D. Silk, Senior Operations Engineer, andMr. M. Kafantaris, Operations Training Manager, arrangements were made for the U. S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to inspect the licensed operator requalification program at the Salem Generating Station. The inspection is planned for the weeks of July 30, 2007, and August 27, 2007, which coincides with your regularly scheduled requalification examination cycle. The staff at your facility should prepare and conduct the requalification examinations in accordance with your NRC-approved requalification program.In accordance with 10 CFR 55.59(c), the NRC may request facility licensees to submit theirbiennial comprehensive requalification written examinations or annual operating tests asnecessary to support the NRC's inspection program needs. In order to adequately prepare for this inspection, the NRC requested the following: 1) an index or summary of condition reports written in the past two years in which licensed operator errors were determined to be the root or contributing cause; 2) an index or summary of condition reports written in the past two years on simulator performance problems; 3) an index or summary of simulator performance test results in the past two years; and 4) the examination schedule, sample plan, written examinations and operating test scheduled for the weeks of the inspection. Mr. M. Kafantaris was advised of these requests.This letter contains information collections that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.).
