- Paul, ByletterdatedJuly28,2014(ADAMSAccessionNo.ML14210A484),PSEGNuclearLLC(PSEG)submittedalicenseamendmentrequestforSalemNuclearGeneratingStation,UnitNos.1and2(Salem).Theproposedamendmentwouldmodifytechnicalspecification(TS)requirementsregardingsteamgeneratortubeinspectionsandreportingasdescribedinTSTF 510,Revision2,"RevisiontoSteamGeneratorProgramInspectionFrequenciesandTubeSampleSelection."Inaddition,theproposedamendmentwouldreviseSalemUnitNo.2'sTSs6.8.4.i,"SteamGenerator(SG)Program,"6.9.1.10,"SteamGeneratorTubeInspectionReport,"andthebasessectionof3/4.4.6,"SteamGenerator(SG)TubeIntegrity,"toremoveunnecessaryinformationrelatedtotheoriginalSalemUnitNo.2Westinghousesteamgenerators.ThepurposeofthisletteristoprovidetheresultsoftheU.S.NuclearRegulatoryCommission(NRC)staff'sacceptancereviewofthisamendmentrequest.TheacceptancereviewwasperformedtodetermineifthereissufficienttechnicalinformationinscopeanddepthtoallowtheNRCstafftocompleteitsdetailedtechnicalreview.Theacceptancereviewisalsointendedtoidentifywhethertheapplicationhasanyreadilyapparentinformationinsufficienciesinitscharacterizationoftheregulatoryrequirementsorthelicensingbasisoftheplant.
ConsistentwithSection50.90ofTitle10oftheCodeofFederalRegulations(10CFR),anamendmenttothelicense(includingthetechnicalspecifications)mustfullydescribethechangesrequested,andfollowingasfarasapplicable,theformprescribedfororiginalapplications.Section50.34of10CFRaddressesthecontentoftechnicalinformationrequired.Thissectionstipulatesthatthesubmittaladdressthedesignandoperatingcharacteristics,unusualornoveldesignfeatures,andprincipalsafetyconsiderations.
