Licensing Support Network Advisory Review Panel Meeting - Federal Register Notice Attachments:

LSNARP Meeting Federal Regist er Notice.pdf; Reconstitut ed - Replacement Options for the LSN.pdf; Instructions for Virtual Meet ing Attendance via Go ToMeeting by LSNARP Member Representatives.pdfThe attached notice, which we anticipate will be published in the December 21 or 22, 2017 edition of the Federal Register, provides details, including a preliminary agenda, regarding a Licensing Support Network Advisory Review Panel (LSNARP) 2-daymeeting that will be held on January 30-31, 2018. As the designated primary/secondary representative of an LSNARP member organization, I hope you will attend the meeting virtually (i.e., remotely) via GoToMeeting or a toll-free telephone audio-only connection, or in person in Rockville, Maryland. Please review the instructions attached to this e-mail to familiarize yourself with the information technology involved to participate virtually, including two pre-meeting GoToMeeting connectivity test opportunities. Also attached to this e-mail is a paper that describes potential options for reconstituting or replacing the Licensing Support Network (LSN) if the adjudication for the Yucca Mountain high-level waste repository construction authorization proceeding is restarted in the future. The options described in this paper will be the principal subject of the meeting, so I hope you will be able to review the paper carefully before the meeting and come prepared to provide your organization's views about the efficacy of each option.

Additionally, it would be helpful for meeting planning purposes if your organization would provide a response to this e-mail by Tuesday, January 2, 2018, that addresses the following items: 1. Per the attached access instructions, please indicate whether your organization's primary and (if designated) secondary representatives plan on attending the January 30-31, 2018 LSNARP meeting either (a) remotely via GoToMeeting or a toll-free telephone audio-only connection; or (b) in person in Rockville, Maryland. Also, if any other individuals affiliated with your organization are planning on attending in Rockville, Maryland, please indicate approximately how many will be present onsite at the meeting.

2. Previously, the agency provided two on-line training sessions to allow those affiliated with LSNARP member organizations to familiarize themselves wi th the existing ADAMS LSN Library. The agenda for the LSNARP meeting session incorporated in the attached Federal Register notice reflects the opportunity at the end of the January 30, 2018 meeting session for a 1-hour orientation regarding the functionalities and search capabilities of the current ADAMS LSN Library. This orientation, which will be conducted live in Rockville, Maryland, will be available for viewing remotely via a GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar video connection.
a. So that we can be responsive to the needs of LSNARP member organizations, we would appreciate knowing approximately how many individuals from your organization who will be attending the January 30 meeting session (either in person or remotely) wish to attend the post-meeting orientation regarding the ADAMS LSN Library. (Please note that a separate e-mail regarding meeting and training session attendance has been sent today to any of the other individuals previously identified by your organization as having an interest in LSNARP activities.)
b. If individuals from your organization plan to attend the January 30 orientation regarding the ADAMS LSN Library, please indicate what form that orientation should take to be most useful. For instance, should it be another formal session like the two previous on-line sessions? Or, should the session 2 be primarily an opportunity for individuals to pose questions about ADAMS LSN Library operations that NRC personnel would address in more detail? Or, would you recommend some other format?
c. Regardless of the format for the orientation session, are there any subject matter areas concerning the ADAMS LSN Library that your organization would like to have covered?

I look forward to working with you during the upcoming LSNARP meeting.

Dr. Andrew Bates Chairman, LSNARP Office of the Secretary U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
