NRC STAFF'S JANUARY 2014 BIMONTHLY REPORT REGARDING THE SCHEDULE FOR REVIEW OF THE WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 LICENSE APPLICATION The Staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Staff) hereby provides the information requested by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (Board) in its May 26, 2010 Scheduling Order (Order). In the Order, the Board instructed the Staff to submit a report on July 2, 2010, to be updated on the first Tuesday of every other month thereafter, updating its estimates of the dates on which the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and the final Safety Evaluation Report (SER) will be issued, and in addition, promptly to inform the Board of any other developments that could potentially impact the schedule for this proceeding.

2 For its safety review, the Staff hereby notifies the Board that the Staff continues to estimate April of 2014 for publication of its final supplement to NUREG-0847, Safety Evaluation 1 No contentions are currently admitted in this proceeding, but a motion to admit a contention concerning the vacatur of the NRC's Waste Confidence Rule is being held in abeyance pending further order of the Commission. Order (Granting Motion to Withdraw Contention 7), at 2 (July 17, 2013) (unpublished) (ADAMS Accession No. ML13198A195).
