City Hall on Wednesday, May 31 st at 1:00 p.m. The Catawba plant is located near York, S.C., and is operated byDuke Energy Corporation.The inspection was conducted by an Augmented Inspection Team, which is used by the NRC toreview more serious events. The Catawba plant AIT looked at the circumstances associated with an unexpected loss of power from offsite sources to both of the facility's nuclear reactors on Saturday,May 20 th. The general details of that event were discussed in a previous NRC news release announcingthe inspection (Release No. II-06-031 issued May 23 rd). That news release is available on the NRCweb site (www.nrc.gov) or from the Region II Office of Public Affairs.The NRC inspection team will present its results at the May 31 st meeting and be available torespond to questions and comments from the public before the close of the meeting.A report on the inspection will be issued within 30 days, and NRC officials will then determinewhether additional actions are required.
