Vice President Hatch Project Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc.
By letter dated July 20, 2004 (NL-04-0946), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted a request to revise the Edwin 1. Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Unit I and Unit 2 Technical Specifications. The proposed change was to revise Administrative Controls Technical Specification 5.3.1, Unit Staff Qualifications. In response to this request, SNC received a draft Request for Additional Information (RAI) from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on October 29, 2004. Subsequent discussions with the NRC and HNP staffs regarding resolution of the draft RAI have indicated that it would be prudent at this time for SNC to withdraw this request. However, SNC plans to re-submit the application with certain modifications based on additional insights gained from these discussions.
