June 29, 2005 Mr. H. L. Sumner, Jr.

Vice President - Nuclear Hatch Project Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc.

P.O. Box 1295 Birmingham, AL 35201-1295

SUBJECT:

EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NOS. MC3875 AND MC3876)

Dear Mr. Sumner:

By letter dated July 20, 2004, you applied for an amendment to the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-57 and NPF-5, respectively. The proposed change would have modified the facility technical specifications pertaining to the Administrative Controls Section 5.3.1 of the technical specifications and replace the specific designation for the Health Physics Superintendent with a reference to the senior individual in charge of Health Physics, and to add flexibility to the qualification requirements for the unit staff positions. Subsequently, by letter dated June 27, 2005 (NL-05-0356), you withdrew the amendment request.

The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Renewed Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

Sincerely,

/RA/
