AUG I 61988 MEMORANDUM TO FILE:

On August 1, 1988 representatives of the Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNEC) met with the NRC in the office of Victor Stello, Jr. in Rockville, MD.

The following persons were in attendance:

B. Fox, President, NNEC E. Mroczka, Senior Vice President, Nuclear Engineering and Operations, NNEC N. Reynolds, Attorney, Bishop, Purcell, Cook & Reynolds V. Stello, Jr., Executive Director for Operations, NRC J. Taylor, Deputy Executive Director for Operations, NRC J. Scinto, Office of the General Counsel, NRC F. Miraglia, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, NRC B. Clayton, Office of the Executive Director for Operations, NRC The following information items were discussed by Mr. Fox:

(1) NNEC response to Bulletin 88-05, (a number of flanges have been identified, work is just beginning on electrical components);

(2) NNEC management initiatives including comparative support to its four nuclear stations; (3) Capital cost of modifications to Haddam Neck; (4) State regulatory impacts; and (5) The use of ISAP to satisfy NRC's IPE requirements.
