NRCs Mission and Values NRCs regulatory mission covers three main areas:

Reactors - Commercial reactors for generating electric power and research and test reactors used for research, testing, and training Materials - Uses of nuclear materials in medical, industrial, and academic settings and facilities that produce nuclear fuel Waste - Transportation, storage, and disposal of nuclear materials and waste, and decommissioning NRC Values: Integrity, Service, Openness, Commitment, Excellence, and Respect 3

RIC Background - An Overview

• The RIC is the largest public meeting hosted by the NRC

• The conference brings together nearly 3,000 participants from more than 30 countries representing interested stakeholders from other government agencies and industry 4

• This joint WMS/RIC simulcast session (WMS 066, R3.88) is intended to share information that is of interest to both audiences

• We intend to communicate and transfer knowledge to the WMS audience, and make the RIC audience aware of the WMS conference program and technical aspects

• NRC staff and management participate in WMS annually through a dedicated panel session (WMS2021 Session R3.3 -No. 088B) to provide NRCs waste regulatory updates and to solicit stakeholder input 5
