1.0 WMS MISSION STATEMENT MISSION STATEMENT By holding the annual Waste Management Symposia (WMS) international conference for the management of radioactive waste and related topics, WMS provides the premier open forum for discussing and seeking safe, environmentally responsible, technically sound and cost effective solutions to the management and disposition of radioactive wastes and the decommissioning of nuclear facilities to enhance the transparency and credibility of the global radioactive waste industry.
2.0 WMS GUIDING PRINCIPLES Guiding Principles 1.We value Technical Excellence and Business Innovation, and WMS provides a forum for independent and open exchange of information.
2.We value International Participation to improve global management of radioactive wastes.
3.We believe in Education and Mentoring to prepare the next generation of nuclear waste professionals with use of funds from the conference.

4.0 WMS TECHNICAL PROGRAM 10 Tracks - Major divisions related to waste type or areas relating to nuclear programs, transportation, environmental remediation and analysis. WMS has 10 Tracks as follows:

Technical Program - Program Advisory Committees
Purpose:
Develop the Technical Program, Organize, Manage and Hold Sessions at the Conference.
Stimulate the submittal of abstracts and panels and encourage conference attendance worldwide.

PAC/IPAC Meetings and Schedules PAC Meetings are generally held 4 times a year in the USA:
4 PAC Meetings at the Symposium-Saturday evening, Thursday morning, lunch and evening 1 PAC Meeting at the Program Development Meeting (PDM) in mid-September International PAC (IPAC) meetings are generally held 4 times a year:
1 US IPAC Meeting at the March Conference on Sunday afternoon 1 US IPAC Meeting at the PDM on Sunday afternoon Two other IPAC Meetings outside the US; 1 in Europe and 1 in Asia

Featured Virtual Content Monday, March 8 at 11:40 EST will be the Hot Topics in US DOE Environmental Management panel featuring government and industry world leaders speaking on the pressing issues facing radioactive waste management in 2021 and beyond.
Monday, March 8 at 3:00 EST will be a featured topic panel Radioactive Waste Operations Post COVID - Lessons Learned from the Pandemic with panelists focusing on the conditions, effects and responses resulting from disrupted operations due to COVID19.
Tuesday, March 9 at 8:30 EST will present the first of two panels focusing on the Japan Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning Update.
Wednesday, March 10 at 10:45 EST will be a new type of WMS panel, sharing information from two different conferences! This panel focuses on the exchange of information with the US NRC Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) and WM2021. A one-hour live virtual joint session will be held to provide information to both attendees with an overview of the contents and major program activities taking place at the RIC and at WM2021.
Thursday, March 11 at 10:00 EST will be the live US DOE Spring Quarterly Business Opportunity Forum. Mr. Norbert Doyle, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Acquisition & Project Management, Office of DOE EM will review the status of every major EM procurement under way and EM progress in awarding these contracts.
Thursday, March 11 at 10:00 EST will be a panel discussion on Global STEM Initiatives - with STEM Zone activities available online Thursday, as well.
Friday, March 12 at 11:40 EST will be the panel: Collaboration Across Borders to Deliver Cleanup and Decommissioning Challenges. The session will engage panelists from DOE-EM, the NDA from the UK and AECL in Canada and discuss the activities undertaken under the trilateral agreement, signed by the three organizations at WM2020.
7.0 ROY G. POST FOUNDATION The Roy G. Post Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed to provide scholarships to students to develop careers in the safe management of nuclear materials and to participate in the WM Conference.
The Roy G. Post Foundation supports WM Symposias mission by providing financial support in the form of scholarships to the next generation of talent that will be solving the problems in the nuclear life cycle.
$95,000 for Post Scholarship (in 2020: 2021 contributions will be finalized post WM2021) 7 Undergraduate Winners ($5,000 Scholarship Amount) 8 Graduate Winners ($7,500 Scholarship Amount)
