Dear Mr. fleuweg:
This is in response to your letter dated Octcher 26, 1984 on the NRC staff proposal to revise 10 CFR Part 35 and asseciated licensing practices.
We also received a letter from Mr. Mebley representing the Agreement States, which requests an opportunity for an Agreement State representative to address the Connission on the Part 35 proposal. In 1983 we arranged for Mr. Spell, then Chairman of the Agreement State group to address the Comission on an earlier proposal to revise Port 35.
We are following the staff's action on the Part 35 revision and will coordinate with Mr. Joe Ward, this year's Agreement State group Chairman, regarding an Agreement State representative addressing the Cctnission on this issue. I do want to assure ycu, bewever, that a sumary of the States' views will be contained in any propcsal submitted to the Comission for decision. 4 The Agreement States have informed us that they are developing an a".ternative proposal. We will be happy to review any such proposal when'it arrives.
Sincerely, Odginal Siped By G. Wayne Kerr, Director Office of State Programs
