SUMMARY

Harris Unit 1 operated at a 73.73 percent Availability Factor for the referenced month and a 67.12 percent Capacity Factor. There were two events. Details are provided on the Unit Shutdowns and Power Reduction Sheet.

There are 157 fuel assemblies in the reactor vessel and 418 spent fuel assemblies in the Spent Fuel Pools. 306 of the spent fuel assemblies are BWR and were shipped to Harris from CP6L's Brunswick Plant. Eight of the spent fuel assemblies in the Spent Fuel Pools are from CP&L's Robinson Plant with 6 additional assemblies on site and awaiting off loading to the Spent Fuel Pools.

90-019 901201 195.48 N/A HC Valve power after chemistry data indicated a large condenser tube leak. The root cause investigation determined a failed open heater drain valve created enough flow force to fail the impingement plate for the drain valve at condenser penetration 46. The impingement plate damaged numerous condenser tubes as it fell into the hotwell. The heater drain valve and impingement plate were repaired and 35 condenser tubes were plugged. -New design for impingement plates are under evaluation. Unit returned to service on 12/10/90.
