OF JUNE 10,1998, MEETING WITH FRAMATOME COGEMA FUELS On June 10,1998, representatives of Framatome Cogema Fuels (FCF) met with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to present information on recent fuel performance and to discuss topical report status. Fuel performance issues discussed during the meeting were fuel reliability and integrity, fuel handling, control component performance, distinctive crud pattern status, post-irradiation examination results, and reactor coolant system water chemistry. The presentation indicated that FCF fuel continues to perform well and to behave as expected from the design models. During the meeting, FCF emphasized the importance of approval for its advariced corrosion resistant alloy to fully use existing fuel burnup limits and as a basis for increased fuel burnup limits.

OF JUNE 10,1998, MEETING WITH FRAMATOME COGEMA FUELS On June 10,1998, representatives of Framatome Cogema Fuels (FCF) met with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to present information on recent fuel performance and to discuss topical report status. Fuel performance issues discussed during the meeting were fuel reliability and integrity, fuel handling, control component performance, distinctive crud pattern status, post-irradiation examination results, and reactor coolant system water chemistry. The presentation indicated that FCF fuel continues to perform well and to behave as expected from the design models. During the meeting, FCF emphasized the importance of approval for its advariced corrosion resistant alloy to fully use existing fuel burnup limits and as a basis for increased fuel burnup limits.

During the discussion of topical reports, FCF summarized the status of previously submitted topicals and the dates by which NRC approval was expected. NRC staff indicated that, in general, the review of these topicals was on schedule but cautioned that changes in staff resources could affect their completion dates.

Meeting attendees are listed in Attachment 1 and the nonproprietary slides presented at the meeting are in Attachment 2.
