This Unit was removed from service for its first refueling outage which started 10/19/79.

All refueling items were completed and the Reactor Plant was made ready for heatup 12/23/79. At this point we went on hold while seismic analysis and required modifications were being performad on safety related systems.

Total electrical generation for the month was "0".

ISummary  :

12/01/79 -- Containment Area Monitor's R-ll ad R-12 were inoper-able for a 0.6 hour6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br /> period when che sample pump would not run.

12/06/79 -- The Reactor head was bolted up at 1315 hours0.0152 days <br />0.365 hours <br />0.00217 weeks <br />5.003575e-4 months <br /> which returned the Reactor Plant to Mode 5.

The "AB" Diesel was inoperable for a 7.25 hour2.893519e-4 days <br />0.00694 hours <br />4.133598e-5 weeks <br />9.5125e-6 months <br /> period while making modifications to 4KV Bus T21A.

12/07/79 -- The "CD" Diesel was inoperable for a 4.25 hour2.893519e-4 days <br />0.00694 hours <br />4.133598e-5 weeks <br />9.5125e-6 months <br /> period for restoring and testing of local operation control.

12/08/79 -- Source Range Nuclear Instrument N-32 was inoperable for a 13 hour1.50463e-4 days <br />0.00361 hours <br />2.149471e-5 weeks <br />4.9465e-6 months <br /> period for renewing of electrical cable.

12/10/79 -- The "CD" Diesel was inoperable for an 11.75 hour8.680556e-4 days <br />0.0208 hours <br />1.240079e-4 weeks <br />2.85375e-5 months <br /> period for repair and checking jacket water leaks.

12/11/79 -- Source Range Nuclear Instrument N-32 was removed from service for renewing of electrical cable. This instrument was returned to service 12/18/79.

Meteorological instruments of wind speed, wind direc-tion and temperatures were removed from service for modifications. These instruments were returned to service 12/24/79. .

12/17/79 -- Filling and venting of the Reactor Coolant System

This instrument was returned to service 12/21/79.

12/24/79 -- The East Main Feed Pump Turbine was overspeed tested.

The trip setpoint was 5636 RPM.

The West Main Feed Pump Turbine was overspeed tested.

The trip setpoint was 5570 RPM.

12/26/79 -- The 12AB 34.5KV Reserve Feed underground cables were out of service for a 1 hour1.157407e-5 days <br />2.777778e-4 hours <br />1.653439e-6 weeks <br />3.805e-7 months <br /> period. This was to modify the protection circuit of these cables. During this time 4KV Buses T21A and T21B were energized from the Reserve Auxiliary Power Source.

12/27/79 -- The "CD" Diesel was inoperable for a 7 hour8.101852e-5 days <br />0.00194 hours <br />1.157407e-5 weeks <br />2.6635e-6 months <br /> period for replacement of the timer for upper valve gear lubrication.

Radiation Monitors R-ll and R-12 were inoperable for a 38.25 hour2.893519e-4 days <br />0.00694 hours <br />4.133598e-5 weeks <br />9.5125e-6 months <br /> period starting at 1413 hours0.0164 days <br />0.393 hours <br />0.00234 weeks <br />5.376465e-4 months <br />. DECEMBER,1979 M-1 WCR-952, non-essential service water containment isolation valve would not pass leak test. Sand was removed from valve internals and valve seat was lapped. Satisfactory retest.

M-2 CTS-139W, west containment spray pump recirc. sump suction valve was leaking by. Seat and disc lapped, gaskets replaced.

M-3 612' Containment airlock inner door equalizing valve stem was sheared.

Valve stem replaced and disc face machined.

M-4 CS-442-1, #1 Reactor coolant pump seal water injection containment isolation check valve failed leak test. Lapped valve seat and disc.

Passed retest.

M-5 NSW-415-1, NSW-417-4, NSW-419-2, NESW containment isolation check valves failed leak test. Removed dirt from all valve internals. All valves passed retest.

M-6 2N, Safety injection pump outboard mechanical seal was leaking exces-sively. Seal replaced and pump retested.

M-7 BD-103-1, 2, 3, 4, blowdown containment isolation valves leaked by. All seats and gates were lapped and replaced.

M-8 A phase-to-phase short was found in heater bank #3 of hydrogen recom-biner #1. Corrected manufacturing wiring error. Retest satisfactory.

M-9 Containment ventilation isolation valves VCR-104 and VCR-204 failed leak test. Seats cleaned and positioner adjusted. Passed retest.

M-10 NSW-415-3 and NSW-417-4, non-essential service water containment iso-lation check valves failed leak test. Replaced NSW-415-3 and removed mud from internals of NSW-417-4. Both valves passed retest.

M-ll NRV-163 and 164, pressurizer spray valves leaked through. Seats lapped, valve reassembled and retested.

M-12 SI-123, IM0-255 equalization isolation valve required replacement.

Valve replaced and NDE performed.

Internals replaced and retested satisfactorily.

M-14 CCW-142, component cooling water check valve for letdown heat exchanger did not seat. Internals replaced and retested satisfactorily.

M-15 CCR-441, component cooling water containment isolation valve failed leek test. Bent stem was replaced and valve passed retest.

M-16 CCW-244-72, component cooling water containment manual isolation failed leak test. Seat was cleaned and valve passed retest.

M-17 CCM-430 and 431, component cooling water containment isolation valves failed leak test. Torque switches were adjusted and valves passed retest.

M-18 N-159, nitrogen supply to pressurizer relief tank stuck open. Re-placed the check valve's spring and retested.

M-19 Aux feedwater check valve, FW-138-2, leaked. Valve seat and disc were lapped. Valve returned to service.

M-20 Containment spray to west CTS heat exchanger motor-operated valve, IM0-220 would not operate. Replaced the motor for the operator, in-spected valve and lubricated. Had valve tested.

M-21 The turbine-driven auxiliary feed pump discharge check valve to #3 steam generator, FW-138-3 was leaking by. The valve seat was lapped, the disc machined and gaskets were replaced.

M-22 The pump for radiation monitor, R-ll would not run. Replaced the pump with a spare.

M-23 Turbine-driven auxiliary feed pump discharge check valve to #1 steam generator, FW-138-1 was leaking by. Disassembled valve, lapped seat and disc and reassembled.
