L2019-  IN Effective Cyber Security Practices for Consideration to Protect Digital Assets          01/15/2019          08/14/2019 GEN-0000 of Byproduct Materials Licensees The purpose of this IN is to inform affected byproduct materials licensees of the results of an evaluation that was previously conducted by NRC staff of the potential need for cyber security requirements and of effective cyber security practices for licensees consideration. The INs enclosure will include the effective practices that provide the addressees information on contemporary cyber security issues related to the protection of digital assets, including those assets used to facilitate compliance with physical security requirements such as Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)
Part 37, Physical Protection of Category 1 and Category 2 Quantities of Radioactive Material.

The cause of this container failure is believed to be the generation of hydrogen gas through hydrolysis, which caused pressure buildup in the container, and which is likely to be a problem for similar high specific-activity alpha-emitting radionuclides in an aqueous solution.
