Monticello - Draft RAI on the 2/15/12 supplement to Relief Request RR-002 Rick:

On 5/22/2012 the NRC staff issued its authorization of Monticello Relief Request RR-002 submitted on 9/28/2011. The NRC staff inadvertently did not review the supplemental request dated 2/15/2012, which presumably pertains to Relief Request RR-002.

The NRC staff is currently reviewing the 2/15/2012 supplement. In this process, the NRC staff generated the following draft RAI question. You may choose to accept this draft question as formal RAI and respond within 30 days of receipt of this e-mail, or request to discuss with the NRC staff in a conference call this draft question and an alternative response date.

Except for the plant-specific data and the fluence and fatigue cycles reflecting 60 years of operation, please confirm that all other probabilistic fracture mechanics (PFM) analysis input parameters used in the Structural Integrity Associates, Inc.

report analyses are consistent with those used in Case 5 as reported in the September 13, 2007 EPRI supplement, Project No. 704 - Supplemental Analyses Supporting BWRVIP-108. Since PFM parameters used in Case 5 were considered acceptable to the staff, any deviation from Case 5, except for the plant-specific data and the fluence and fatigue cycles reflecting 60 years of operation, need justification.
