DRESDEN UNIT 2 STARTUP TEST No. 2 CONTROL ROD OPERABILITY AND SUBCRITICAL CHECK PURPOSE The purpose of this test is to assure that no gross large local reacti-vity irregularities exist and that all control rods are functioning properly.
CFITinfA
- 1) Each control rod will be withdrawn after the fcur fuel bundles surrounding the given control rod are loaded. This will in-sure that the mobility of the control rod is not impaired.
- 2) After the core is fully loaded, each control will be withdrawn and inserted one at a time to assure that criticality will not occur due to the withdrawal of a single rod. Nuclear instru-mentation will be monitored during the movement of each control rod to verify subcriticality.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Each control rod was withdrawn after the four fuel bundles surround-ing the given control rod were loadad.
Control rod mobility was assured.
After the core was loaded, each control rod was withdrawn and in-serted one at a time.
The Source Range Monitors were monitored during the movement of each rod and subcriticality was verified.
